pci-e 2.0? worth an upgrade

I am running 2x 8800 gt and am planing to upgrade to some 9800 gtx but i dont want to upgrade my mobo. will the 9800 gtx work with pcie 1.0 and what will i lose by doing so?

You won't see much difference unless you are running in x4/x4 mode now or something. You honestly won't see much difference at all, the 9800GTX isn't that much faster than the 8800GT.

What's the rest of the system?
 
I was using a 1.0 mobo with my GTX285, then switched to a 2.0 ( P45 for OCing ... ) and i didnt notice any change with 3Dmark06 and games.

i think thats everything this is my first build so yeah
 
my friend told me 9800 gtx was the best i could run without upgradeing the whole rig is he rite?
