View Full Version : SETI Team Germany!
These guys just won't lay down and let us tread on them as we move on up... Whats it going to take to put them down for good? ;)

TC has to ramp up production, of course:D
(just kidding TC!)
MORE farms! Bigger farms! Faster farms! More active Team Members!
Maybe we could take out a few of their top producers: we used to have a "Magic Bus" (some of you may remember that thread!)
We could use it to go cut their production down!
OK, thats enough stupidity from me;)
For now.
I personally have been having some Farm problems this week, and I'm down about 24 hours of production on 1 fast pc; hopefully that is over.
I am planning an expansion (and a permanent repair) sometime fairly soon: with luck that will bump my production up a bit.
All the Active Members seem to be highly motivated to crunch everything they can: I don't know what more we can do.......

yep... I'm trying to ramp-up production too...
I just gotta borrow my friends NIC so I can crunch away on my P133... Then I'll get an extra 0.0000001 WU/day :D That, and the video card he took last week... ;)

I'll have to put SETI on my machine at work, its a Celly 300. What sort of rough times should i get ?
I've got a dead machine that I need to replace. It's one of the dual Xeons and it will only boot with one cpu now. I've also got a friend that is thinking about joining us...I told him to hang in the forums for a while so maybe we will pick him up. He has somewhere around 2K units and is crunching pretty good per day.

NO you weren't! lol
I should have my other system done this coming week and it should provide 40- 50 wu's per week.

24-36 hours per work unit, would be my guess. Main reason would be the non-overclock part :(
Encourage your friends to use it and put it on computers that you can.
If you can overclock the 300 to 500 as those old Celeron's overclock good it'd prob do 2WU's a day, although its a work computer so I'd guess not.
Prob 48-60 hours.

Yodums the Celeron 300A benchmarks a little better then a P200MMX, which gets under 48hour work unit times. He should get between my range of 24-36 hours. Your times are more along the lines of a Pentium 120 Classic, which I also own.

The parts are on their way for my third rig. It won't be the dual XP board that Jon has that I wanted so badly, but it'll help. I'm slapping together a 1GHz Athlon, so I should be able to get 2 -2.5 WUs per day.

DS: I have a 900@1069 (or so) that puts out a unit in about 7 hours (linux) and a 1000@1300 that does 'em in about 6. So you should be able to see 3 pretty easy- maybe 4! Even better than you thought, eh?
Crunch on!

Yeah, that would be great. It might even keep me in the top 50 for another month or two! Thanks for the info.

I have 2 more PC's that will be going online soon, hopefully by end of the month.
Both are P3's, a 667 and an 800, and guess what?
Both MB's can OC thru the bios. Not sure how much I can get out of them, but I'm sure I can get 15% out of both CPU's without a sweat.
I'm rearranging my "farming room" right now. Gonna repaint the walls this week (probably wont get a chance for a long time, once I start this farming addiction).
I've been talking to a few of my friends into at least running the screensaver version. That way, they can "chunk" on thier PC's and them have them "crunch" when they arent usuing them.
I'll be more than happy to have someone tell me how to fix the red component of my monitor (it doesn't work at all) so I won't have to buy a replacement monitor and can therefor put that money towards a new cruncher.... anyone?????

Not all do depends alot on the motherboard too.

Sorry about your monitor.
If your monitor is 5 years or older, its probably better to get a different monitor. Could be any number of problems that causes 1 color to go bad, including the electon gun in the picture tube.
For some reason the red always seems to go bad first.
Of all the picture tubes I've replaced (at least 20), probably 80% of them had the red gun go bad.
You might wanna try a place like Salvation Army, Goodwill, any 2nd hand store close to you. They might have a used monitor pretty cheap. You can always buy a used monitor on the net, but the cost to ship it is pretty high.
Good luck
