I have an IP35-E, Q6600, HD4850, and 1680x1050 monitor. Despite being somewhat old by OC standards, they're still working fairly well for gaming. However, I'm looking to upgrade and get the most bang for my buck.

I was thinking about Crossfire: getting another HD4850 since they're so cheap now, and maybe a P45 mobo like the GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3P. This seems like the cheapest upgrade option. I already have a decent PSU (PCP&C 750w), and heat/noise isn't an issue with my "remote" watercooling system.

Does that seem like a good idea?? I'm not limited to ATi though, and some cards like the gtx 275 seem to give the same bang per dollar.

Crossfire = twice the number of cards = twice the number gaming fun !

:)

Also the new 9770 really perform in crossfire and are around $100 each.

i think he did. 9770 sounds like some AMD cpu...or maybe i'm thinking of 955...

if you'd like to keep your current card, get another 4850. great crossfire performance, and your Q6600, if oc'ed, should keep the cards from being bottlenecked.

another route you could take is to sell your current 4850 can get a 4890...or wait for the 5x00 series cards to come out

either way, ATi greatness! :santa:

4850 is still a nice card, should run anything you really throw at it. If you need more performance, just OC it a bit. The 5x series cards are literally less than 2 months away.

I suggest waiting until the new series of cards launch, if you can hold off that long, or go with a nvidia card, 4890, or even a used 4870x2. The cost of a new board is extra expense that you don't need to deal with if you just sell off your 4850 and get a better card in the first place.

+1 wait for the 5xxx series of cards if you're serious about doing an upgrade at this point.
