my dads Socket 7 fan is making some grinding noises so I am going to replace the fan. I only have 2 Socket A fans, a Volcano 5 and a ThermalTake slim fan hs/f. Will the TT slim fit on Socket 7? The Volcano 5 is too big. I also have a spare 40mm fan that I might be able to fit on the hs. So will a Socket A hs/f fit on a Socket 7? or should I just use the 40mm fan?
thanks

It should be no problem as long as you have no interference from caps, etc on your board. I'm presently running a global win fop32 on the K6-2+ system in my sig.

I cleaned out the hs because it was really dusty. It is a Cooler Master, the name was hidden behind all the dust. It turns out the fans bearings were messed up. The fan would lift up about 1/8 inch and thats when it would make the sounds. Sometimes it would spin at 4k rpm then dropped down to 1k rpm! Good thing it didnt fail.:D I just switched out the fan and now it is super quiet because there is no other fans beside psu
