My specs are in my sig, and i just bought the gtx 275 oc version:
BFG GeForce GTX 275 OC 896MB GDDR3 PCI-E Dual DVI-I HDTV Out Video Card

Do i need more power than 500W, or will it be alright?
It should be fine, but I wouldn't go for anything more without bumping up the PSU a notch or two.

Depends what psu you have sometimes a 500 watt psu does not mean real wattage. As long as you have a good quality one, you should be fine.

*should* is the operative word. IIRC, that eartwatts line isnt the greatest, but Im sure it will do.

Sounds like a stupid question, but what happens if i dont get a better power supply? Like what is the worst that can happen besides my psu burning out? Im also gonna get a new psu since i wanna be safe but gotta wait a week for my next pay check.

Im sure you will be fine with that PSU really. Its just that there is better quality available. I would continue to run it personally. The worst that could happen is it takes out your PSU. Modern PSU's and Antec have quite solid protection circutry so it should take anything else down.

Earthwatts 500 is good, I think the worst that can happen for that one is it just burns out itself. bad quality psus usually take your whole computer down with it, that is why it is so important that you spend more money on a good PSU.
you should be ok but i would double check the 12v+ rail amp rating. if its to low then it may not do well with the GPU

EA500 has 34A on +12v combined and has two 6-pin PCIe native (no adapters necessary). It will be fine.

500W Will be enough, and if you get a better PSU it just allows you more room to breath for OC'ing and upgrading.
