Call of Duty 4 Punkbuster help!!!

Hi,

recently whenever i start to play CoD4, after about 5 seconds it says "Service Communication Failure: PnkBstrA.exe" How do i fix this problem? When i go to run and type in services.msc and look for punkbusterA its not even there, only B is there. I really need your help!

oh, yeah, ive tried manually updating with the pbsetup from evenbalance but not even that fixes the problem!

What I did was google punkbuster windows7 (I assume you are running windows 7?)

Download the pbsetup.exe into the CoD4/pb folder and run it from there. After that I haven't had a problem.

First, I would uninstall PB. Then download PBSetup from here: http://websec.evenbalance.com/downloader/download.php?file=1

(sounds like maybe you already did, but perhaps try again after first uninstalling)

Once it's installed, do this:

Then I'd say a reboot is a good idea. Hopefully this helps?



EDIT: i couldn't get mine to run properly for BF2 until I did the steps in the video above.


EDIT2: hmmm after skimming that video I think that it's not the one I used. I can't seem to find it though. But google seems to show that people are still having issues with COD specifically. Stupid evenbalance has appparently fixed it for the Win7 RTM, but not RC's (how does that work).

I think punkbuster is nearly worthless anyway. There needs to be something better!

If the service isn't installed properly then pbsetup.exe won't do it, you will need pbsvc.exe.
