View Full Version : IDE Hard Drive not showing up in windows?
Ok, so I did an upgrade to my buddies computer (hes still running IDE). I put in a larger HDD and was going to pull all the files from his old one and junk it.
Problem is, windows isnt seeing the hard drive. BIOS is recognizing it and picking it up on UDMA-5, but windows doesnt show the drive :( IDE channels are installed in device manager.
What could be the issue? TIA~!

The new drive needs to be initialized and partitioned via the Disk Management console.
No, its the old harddrive that isnt showing up. I set the old drive with all the files as the slave (and used CS mode as well). The new drive is partitioned/formatted with windows on it.

Is the drive showing at all in the Disk management console ,,, you may have to rename the old drive from (C: to something else as you now have a new C drive)
Ok, Ill check that guys, thanks for the advice. Not going to be able to get to it right away, Ill post up again if I cant figure it out trhough disk management. Thanks!

check the primary/secondary and see if it is detecting anything on the channels. I turned them off once to save some time on boot but drove me crazy when i added another drive later on since it wouldn't detect in Windows but would in BIOS.
