Network Via 56k modem..is it possible?or any other way?

Okay heres the deal...
Im at a friends house and we have 3 computers here, we do not have network cards or a hub, What we want to do is simply network the computers so that we can play our games agaisnt each other...

I was thinking that there may be some sort of way to network at least 2 of these computers via a 56kmodem, I mean is there anyway at all?

2 of the computers have WinMe and the third Win98se.

So is there anyway to network these comps?

Well if all u wanna do is play games against each other, some games have the multiplayer option with a modem. So just connect to the other modem through the phone line. Otherwise, if u wanna do some kinda networking that wouldn't be possible with just modems. You need some NIC cards.... :burn:

But what if they are using only one phone line, both computers are tryin to use one phone line is it possible?

It would not be possible to network to computer together using just 56k modems. You would need a pair of nic cards. sorry. :(

You could get two machines connected using a serial/parrel/usb laplink cable. Otherwise you would have to use NIC cards.

The heck with it, Im going to go grab some network cards and borrow a hub...

you can get a 4 port hub for like 10$ and 3 cables for like 4$ each...
