Hi there all. New to the forum here but i just took the dive from my athlon 64 754 pin system to a core 2 duo e7500 with the P5e Deluxe motherboard (X48) and i am having difficulties even overclocking oh say 100Mhz its crazy bad. Never had much trouble with amd but it might just be the bios here. I have been reading about people flashing this board with the rampage formula bios and was wondering if i could get a little advice from someone who has done this type of thing before i make my new toy into a heap!!!

if it isn't stable try to raise the v-core a bit

i'm running at 4.0 ghz:burn: but when i past 3.6 it became unstable but when i raised the v-core it was stable again.
caution don't raise your v-core more than one step at a time you mite overheat.

iirc flashing the P5E to Rampage some options will no longer work....
I flashed my Maximus X38 to Rampage bios ( I was one of the first to do it) it made the board fly.

Post your bios setup and suggestions can be made

My setings are nill also as i have tried to just push the system alittle bit and it totally failed. IDK what i need to set them at. Have only done some slight overclocking in the past. But i wanna make this puppy soar. I also have stock hs and fan which i am thinking about replacing asap. but dont know what one to get.

As far as the bios flash goes, how is it safe to flash a board with a different boards bios and will it really make a difference??

Xigmatek HDT-1283 and 1284 are excellent, the Sunbeam CCF(120mm) is excellent, the Thermalright Ultra 120 Exteme is the second best cooler known to man, and the Megalehem is the best current cooler.
Given that you have a dual core, i'd get the xigmatek or sunbeam.

:welcome:!
i've flashed my P5E into a RF as well. can't say my OC is any better, because my CPU just won't budge from where it is...but there's one huge bonus; you get rid of any vdroop by turning on loadline calibration. this helps with temps and stability.

if you can't get an extra 100mhz outa your P5E, flashing to an RF won't do much.
hmm, is this the first time you're overclocking an Intel chip?
this is a great guide on how to OC your chip

and if you cbf, you can always make all your settings auto and let the Mobo do it for you...but your results won't be as great or satisfying ;)

even without changing settings, you should get at least an extra 600mhz or so to 3.6ghz on stock settings.
it'd be good if you can post your system specs, as one part of your system may be causing the issue.

Like Rich'[ard] mentioned, post your system spec's including a direct link to your specific RAM. You might also want to fill out this BIOS template for the P5E w/ all of your current settings...
