Any recomendations? i was looking at frozen CPU for x58 specific blocks and all i saw was ones for the P6T, Rampage II, and and the EVGA classified.

If there isnt a board specific one what should i use instead?

Do you want a chipset heatsink or a chipset waterblock? And why are you looking for aftermarket cooling for an Intel motherboard?

Sorry i meant a Water Block.

Generally people don't recommend a waterblock for the chipset. It's not necessary unless you're doing some VERY serious overclocking, it's expensive, and it adds extra heat and restriction to the loop.

Chipset waterblocks are usually chipset specific, not board specific. Most chipsets should have mounting holes for cooling solutions, and Intel (if anyone) ought to follow that spec.

I figured they were a standard but i just wanted to make sure. sometimes companys do funny things like that though.

Lets say i get bored one day and have about 400 bucks to spend on some water cooling and I was looking to hit 5.0 on an I-7 and wanted to cool it a bit better.

What kind of waterblock should i go lookin for?

The difference between generic chipset blocks, and board-spacific is that board-spacific usually cools the mosfets too. But I agree with the above poster in that they are pretty useless.

That would be the Swiftech GTZ.

First off you are not going to hit 5 GHz , second that block would be Heatkiller CU.

Did you mean a chipset waterblock? I would say you should get a fan for the heatsink that's already on the board, maybe use aftermarket TIM, and keep the cash. A chipset waterblock will add restriction and heat to your loop and make your CPU temps worse.

If you're absolutely sold on the idea of a chipset waterblock, look for something like this: http://jab-tech.com/Swiftech-MCW30-Chipset-cooler-pr-3251.html Most are designed with a more or less universal mounting system.

Just like with AMD, I believe the x58 chipset is only for controlling the pci lanes
