Hey,

I was just thinking.

I have a Cooler (the type you take on picnics). It has a built in 12v I/C type cooler that plugs into the cigarette lighter. The unit is suppose to chill the contents 40 Deg. F lower than the ambient temperature but I haven't verified this. I know that it only takes about an hour or so to get a 12 pack of room temp. sodas to refrigerator cold. We use an industrial version of these coolers to cool electronic circuit boards where I work. These boards are encased but ouside, exposed to the brutal South Florida sun, hence the coolers.

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has tried cooling like this?

This sounds a lot like cooling from a peltier. Peltiers can create a temperature difference of about 70 degrees from ambient. Cooling pop cans wouldn't take that much since there is nothing creating extra heat. A cpu like an AMD generates lots of heat and therefore requires a very powerful peltier. Peltiers are very good for keeping CPUs cool but condensation becomes a problem. If you can combat condensation peltiers look very attractive.
