I have a Samsung 700mb RW cdrom. I had written on it roughly 18 times and one day when i was quickformatting it using nero burning it normally takes 1 min to format it but it took endless amount of time formatting and my computer stopped responding, so i had reset the machine, since then my cdwriter (HP12X) is unable to read it.

My question is:

1) Howmany time can i write in a rw cdrom?
2) What's the life of a re-writable cdrom?

thanx

those things supposedly can be rewritten up to 1,000,000 times (if i remember correctly), even if that isn't the exact number its more times than anyone could ever hope to rewrite it. however, i'm sure the quality of the cd comes into play and i think that 1 million times is a bit of a cocky claim.

I've heard "thousands" of rewrites, but whatever, Spike is right...it should be more than anyone could actually use. Have you tried a complete format? I use Nero and have "rescued" a bad CD-RW once or twice that way.
