Ok, I got turned on to this Xerox 17" monitor and it is quite dim.. not black , just dim.
After a little research, I have found out that in most cases the inverter or the bulb goes...I can brighten it a little, but it is all the way up now, and I am leaning on the idea that it is the inverter going...but I am far from an expert on this so a little advice is needed.
Should I try to get another inverter (or bulb if that's the prob) or just buy another monitor?
Thanks,
Doc

Hmm, Maybe I should get into fixing dying LCD's...I mean they are getting to be mainstream now, and I'm sure that some people would want to spend a hundred Dollars for refurbishing then to spend a few hundred to buy an new one.

whats the price of a new CCFL tube vs the price of the inverter.... id be willing to bet its a bulb.

Is the lighting on the screen even? Or is just one half of the screen dim? There are usually 2 CCFL bulbs in a screen that size, either on the top and bottom or left and right. If it's just half the screen that is dim, one of the bulbs could be burnt out.
Also, it's very easy to test the inverter, just check the output with a multimeter.
