basically just a little confused by my ram and cpu when overclocking dont quite understand some of the figures in the bios.

my ram is ddr2 8500 1066, my default fsb of cpu is 266. so my memory timings show correct as far as im aware 5 5 5 18 but my memory speed shows at 800mhz? but as i increase fsb i notice memory speed automatically speeds up, i also then noticed the memory straps also effect the memory speed, but i do not understand the bands, a=266 d=400 c-200 and b 333. so i figured my default memory strap was set to 2.00 or 2.50 A strap. so if i increased my fsb to say 400 do i still stay in the a strap=266 or do i go to D strap, on top of that do i want to then increase my fsb to get as close to 1066 on my memory speed? does it matter if its 1025 for example?

cheers

You want to OC in this order:
processor at maximum speed
RAM at fastest speed without sacrificing processor speed
tightest timings and lowest voltage
Most Intel chipsets perform best with faster speed from the RAM. See how high your RAM can go at any given strap and FSB. Then set your CPU to max out and see how close to your RAM max you can get (most people have to run slower than the RAM's max to keep their CPU at max).
