I am building a i7 920 system that will boot into Windows 7 64bit, Unbuntu and possible some version of OS X when I get that all figured out.

I have 2 Intel X-25M 80GB and a Highpoint Rocketraid 3510 4 Channel SATA RAID Controller. I will be throwing a few 1TB Black's in there as well. I am primarily editing HDV content and was thinking of doing the following.

Use each of the SSD drives as a system drive for my most used OSs.

Then use the RAID controller in RAID 5 with 4 1TB drives for my video work.

I just want some feedback on best use of the SSD drives with my considerations. Thanks all!

You wont have any problems doing windows/linux on the same SSD, however OSX I don't think works on any thing but a dedicated drive (dont quote me)

Raid5 on the 4x 1tb is a good solution.

i dont know anything about osx but if your going to run multiple operating systems on the same machine, its best to have them on their own drive. just alot cleaner that way.

I had 2 Windowses, 2 Linux distros, and OSX (hackintosh) on the same harddrive before. No problem with that.

I still dual boot Windows and Linux on the same harddrive. There is really no need to go separate drives (putting them on the same one won't make them "slower", since only one of them is accessed at any given time).
