He was using his PC fine till after he installed catalyst 9.8 for his HD4850, but then half way through the installation his screen suddenly turned blank, like as if the computer was off, when the computer is actually on.

And then he restarted his computer hoping to at least see those bios things everything you start your computer. But he see nothing, completely blank, he tried plugging the power cord out and in again, tried and still nothing.

He cant even go to safe mode, and he was wondering whats the problem. When he's updating his ATI driver he didn't uninstall the 9.7 though, so is that the source of this problem?

Anybody care to help? Thanks~

No.

You can not wreck a computer with a video card driver.

A video card driver can't even be responsible for him not being able to see the bios. Either the card was already dying or he accidentally tried installing a video card BIOS instead of a video card DRIVER.

Those are pretty much the only two options.

But I would check the cables first.

he has to be able to see the BIOS screen at the very least. If he can't take out the CMOS battery for a few minutes with the computer unplugged. If you still can't see anything it's one of 3 problems:

CPU
RAM
Video card

chances are, it's the RAM or vidcard, try taking sticks out/moving them around. you should get POST
