wtf, the tutalains are getting hard to find. everyone is selling the cumine 1.2ghz celerons. i didnt think they could push the .18 cumine core that far. and i saw one retailer that said they will get 1.3ghz cumine celerons in soon. i thoght intel wasnt making the .18 cores anymore?

Y'know, I just noticed some 1.2GHz OEM Celerons w/128MB cache at pricewatch... Intel's site doesn't show any non-Tualatin 1.2GHz Celly's though. Wonder if it's due to ignorant retailers...

but the retailers label them as .18 micron celerons with 128kb cache
im just wondering cuz theres a $20 difference between what they label them as.
theres a 1.2ghz celeron (supposedly .18 micron) for $89
and the cheapest one labeled as .13 is $105

I doubt that the retailer knows what he's got. I would be money that this 1.2 Ghz Celern is indeed a Tualatin. You could ask them to read the s-spec number to you...some vendors will and some won't.

It was my understanding tha ALL 1.2 Celerons were Tualatin. I noticed also that retailers were listing the 1.2 with 128k cache and .18 core. I believe they are incorrect. As far as I know, all 1.2 Celerons are indeed Tualatin.

Same here, I've never heard of a Celeron running 1.2GHz on a CUmine core. I doubt that retailer knows what he's got, maybe you could teach him a thing or two about his merchandise. :D

I think it's a retailers mistake, they don't know??

i think they know what they are talking about but they list it as a cumine core on purpose.
because if you told people that they had to buy a whole new motherboard to upgrade to this processor they are afriad the customers would tell them to take a hike and they wont sell many of those processors.
so they resort to false advertising to trick people instead. lol
well im going to call a couple places tommrow and ask them for the stepping code.

ive just seen a similiar thing,

on pricewatch, you can find 1.13 ghz Coppermine p3's...

ARE THEY REAL??? i hope so...:D

but seriously, if thats just an ignorant vendor, then they should be flogged.:)

Tough to believe a vendor would be selling a tualatin by mistake, since they do cost more than the .18 die cores...

but, the proof's in the pudding... dunno until you order one to be sure.

I bet if you look at the return policy of those retailers that have "mistakenly" labeled the Tualatins as Coopermines, you'll probably find that they have a hefty "restocking" fee on non-defective returns. Pecos is right, according to the official Intel s-spec chart, there are no Coppermine 1.2 gig Celeron, only Tualatin 1.2 giggers.

Hmmm..I've also always thought 1.2 Cellys where Tualatins. THe 1.0/1.1 Tualatins were harder to distinguish though from the cumines since a lot of my local shops carry them, but they don't get those wrong, however, they get the 1.2 Tualerons wrong.

Here's the place where I got my Celly:

Yikes.

I also, downloaded the Celeron pdf update from the link on the bottom of the S-spec page and it also doesn't show any Coppermine Celeron higher than a 1.1 proc.

well i bought one from here
http://www.edgemicro.com/category.asp?cartId=494HAUMA50&cc=CPUCLRN&prevcc=&tpc=
i called them and asked which celeron it was, of course the tech support guy was a moron and it took me 8 min of explaining the differences between the 2 and he finally told me somthing of importance, he said it was fcpga2. so thats the .13 celeron :)
yay! got the celeron for $91 :D
