Since I changed from my HD4850 to my 70, temps went up averagely around 10-15 degrees using the same cooler.. I'd expect round 5 extra but I feel this is a bit much? I mean my temps are still acceptable while gaming.. 55-60 on the core, and 75 on memory.. But I just think this is too high, for an aftermarket cooler. I can almost gaurantee it's not seated correctly or something.. But its more the memory that bugs me.
Would you recommend

?
When I took the ramsinks off the hd4850, they lost a lot of their pressure in terms of 'stickiness' i spose you'd call it. Thus I feel they're not cooling the ram as well possibly? I could be wrong. Is it worth spending a little bit on these sinks? Cos I can get cheaper Zalman ramsinks for like half the price.. What sets these apart from the others? Are they more efficient or is it all just weird marketing? Thanks.
(I'll be reseating everything later when I have a day off, so hopefully that'll drop the core temps).

Heres a link to the other ramsinks I can get cheaper..
I notice ones alluminium and ones copper. Is there going to be a huge difference or not? I can't find anything on the web really.. Just keep getting places that sell them, rather than speaking about them.

Personally, I'd totally ditch the Zalman and get the Scythe Musashi
Here's the Musashi

Nekkid Video Card Pr0n!

Here's what the heatsinks that came with the kit look like test-fitted. They include 16 heatsinks for RAM, even though only 8 are used, so you have 8 spare ones.

Here it is installed on the card.

I use two of those Musashi coolers on my HD4870s and my temps are great!

I have both, I had zalman for years from my 9800, I didn't bother using it on my watercooled cards this year, used the swiftech.

Uh. Did i mention my actual aftermarket cooler is a Thermalright T-Rad 2? Lol. I was asking only about the ramsinks themselves.. As it says in my sig, my thermalright with a gentle typhoon is quite a nice upgrade over stock cooling. Very quiet. Just needs some adjustments I guess... Thanks for the replies though XD.

ordered 2 MC14's for my 3870 two weeks ago, no comparison to stock ram cooling, the stock ram cooling was always cold and no contact with the ram chips, im pretty sure we are looking at about the best passive air VRAM cooling solution, but that was not enough for me, so I made sure to add a fan on them anyway, during operation they run extremely hot even with the fan, so hot that it hurts to touch them for longer than two seconds, I had no idea that my ram was so hot, and now that I know I don't want to put additional load on my VRAM anymore, so I limit my video card clocking options to just with the GPU, where there is a MCW60-R2 that should keep it cold, maybe if there is a water cooling for the VRAM independently somewhere I would buy it, too bad I didn't know how hot the VRAM is before I ordered the sinks, I would have looked harder into VRAM water cooling.
edition: it's possible that maybe some video cards have colder VRAM chips, or some versions are not the best company offering are just underclocked, but it also maybe because copper based heat transfer is more efficient from the VRAM chip, and then they will always be hot regardless.
bought them from here:

Of course they look cheaper, I live in Australia :P. But I see.. Hmm. Strange. Oh well! I'll give em a go sometime soonish I guess. Might wait til i get a new mobo, where I plan to reseat both the CPU and GPU hsf, etc. Ta for the reply

I just got them and it looks I can't tell for certain if temps have dropped since they can't stick and are falling while my pc is on. Looks like I'm going to need some superglue.
