best LAN game

what would u say is the best game to play over a LAN, currently playing NFSPC and CS along with RTCW are there any others I need to try?

thats a good point that games is a classic, but none of the people I do a LAN with seem to like it :mad: they prefer to play red alert, wouldnt mind a long game of age of empires though:)

C&C is good, but Starcraft is a classic, ive been playing since it came out and i still love it. ive bought the game like 4 times....my other cds got ruinied and so on...

Star Wars Galactic Battlefields

It's AoE done Star wars, so sweet.

Just had a 8 hours 6 mins game at a lan this weekend.

Medal of Honor is also really fun if its a big lan.

I would say Wolfenstein, Quake 3(including Rocket Arena, Capture the Chicken, Instagib, Excessive), and sometimes CS. Quake 1/2 are also great fun.

i must be obsessed with UT, if i have a choice between that and any other. its going to be UT. oh yes, i dont like Counter-strike (gasp!)

my upcomming lan party (feb 16th - 23rd :D) is going to be 110% CS FREE!
i despise cs
UT rules :) so does rtcw. Star Trek armada 2 would be sweet.
for a smallish lan party Dialbo2 rules, espically when at the begining everyone is on the same team but then (when im the host) in mid game (act 3 or so) disable teamplay and turn it on a free for all :D hehe. i almost got my ass kicked once for killing somebody and taking all his cool stuff ;)

Hahaha. But yes, ST:A2. Starcaft is fun, but everyone I played with played Zerg...and well, 7 zerg and a protoss just isnt a fun game. My personal favorite LAn game to play right now is Battlerealms. There just something about it that makes it fun to play.

Unfortunatly, the only games I've ever had the pleasure to play over a LAN are Worms Armegeddon and Descent. I would have to totaly go for Worms just cuz it's completely awesome when played on a LAN.

I was at a LAN this weekend. We played Quake 3 alot. Also Aliens vs. Predator 2. It's amazing! We couldn't get StarCraft to work though, stupid IPX protocol.

I just got Cossacks : European Wars, thats a nice game, kind of AOE2 but with more relism in warefare and economy. Too long to get relly advanced though

I really like Age of Empires 2 : Age of Kings, Midtown Madness (although I don't play it very often), and NFS (Porsche and High Stakes)

Any of you guys play tribes. I have and play both 1 and 2. I think they are the coolest games out. I have tried alot of games but keep coming back to these two. Oh well.,,,,, to each his own.

thanks to whoever mentioned the rogue spear series and ghost recon. Since we can never get more than 3 or 4 guys together to LAN we usually do rogue spear with the following add ons:

covert ops essentials
black thorn
urban ops
BSW 3.0
Glock mod

that makes for some fun games w/ a decent amount of maps

The RS engine seems to be a little laggy though.

We also do Ghost recon, the engine is much better, less laggy and the gameplay is awesome. working together to finish a mission in GR is a blast, it seems much more intense than RS.

Whatever you do though, dont drink 24 cans of Pepsi (per person)and plan on playing Quake 3...You will end up seeing who can win a deathmatch in the shortest amount of time...(not to mention that you wont sleep for 48hrs)...My head still buzzs from that...Cant belive how long I sat there...

Anyway I like Quake 3, Unreal Gold(been unable to get UT to work on without lag logeg games.), Tribes 2,4x4 Evolution, Good old MTM2, Midtown madness, Roadwars.....But my Fav is Quake 3 because I hual azz through a map...

How can you all forget the wonderful HL mod Day of Defeat? Every friday, my entire school has a LAN party with DOD, some CS, Worms, and Starcraft... Used to play Quake.. got old.

My second choice would be Worms Armageddon. It's one of very few games where even losing can be just as entertaining as winning.

Thirdly Mech Warrior 4 is a blast to play online, but alas I don't have broadband anymore (argg!!!! WHY have the gods cursed me?!?!)

Fourthly, I HATE COUNTER STRIKE!!!!!

Last of all, NFS: Porche Unleased is the only LAN game I can smoke people at and I LOVE it to death.:cool:

i can't believe not a single person said infiltration. maybe some of you know of it and even played but forgot about it, but i must say that this is hands down the most realistic game ive ever played.

like angry was saying about Q3 whatever you do don't get on a major sugar buzz or get drunk while playing this. you will leave the mortal realm and enter the game, this happened to me once, and i almost crapped myself when things got hairy.

for those of you that don't know what infiltration is. its a free download from http://infiltration.sentrystudios.com/ for all you UT guys out there, its a mod for UT itself. its kinda hard to get the game working and there is little support for it, but its worth it, trust me. you can play single player against the bots, if set to a low difficulty they are EXTREMELY stupid, but you turn then up just a little, and the will be hand gun sniping you from the other side of the map. you can play on the net, but there aren't very many servers, why i don't know cause INF is superb game. then there is LAN INF, this is where this game shines. i highly recommend you guys DL it and show it to your LAN buddies, ive played pretty much every FPS out there and i must say INF is my fav for LAN parties.
