Ive had a geforce8800 gtx for over 2 years now and just the other day I ran into a problem that I have not been able to fix. When I turned on my computer that night, I noticed random lines of bright colored pixels across my screen then the screen locked up and I had to restart my computer. After the reboot my lcd monitor would not work and the light on it just kept flashing, I did however hear the windows loading chime and figured my video card had died. Today I hooked up an ancient old blocky monitor and the thing worked but was very choppy in terms of moving around windows and scrolling through web pages (I didn't even bother trying a game). Under device manager there is a yellow exclamation mark beside 8800gtx with a code 10 description, I tried uninstalling the drivers and installed some other ones which messed up a bunch of stuff. Under device manager I now had SM something and 2 pci bridge somethings with yellow question marks, I couldn't get any internet to work and after a reboot I had a windows activation request which I can verify was not a trojan. I did a system restore to about a week ago and it fixed those problems except the 8800gtx exclamation mark.

Specs:
asus p5n32-e sli motherboard 680i
intel core 2 duo e6600 2.4ghz
evga e-geforce 8800gtx 768mb pci-e

I have had this system for over 2 years with no problems at all.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have any other monitors or graphics cards you can test? Or if you can test your monitor on another pc? Could also be a cable that went bad but I doubt it.

I had this happen to me before...

After the reboot my lcd monitor would not work and the light on it just kept flashing, I did however hear the windows loading chime...

I even had almost the same specs as you. I had P5N-E SLI, E6700, and 8800GTX (which I still use).

It turned out to be my monitor, it just randomly died...black screen and flashing light...

My 8800GTX is still running strong :D

I have already hooked up a different monitor as mentioned above, the screen is really choppy while browsing and moving around windows tho.

That would make sense except in device manager under graphics card it has a yellow exclamation mark which states "This device cannot start. (Code 10)". Which leads me to believe something is wrong with my video card as well.
