I have Crysis through Steam.
I have not played the game in a while, but when I started up the game to play earlier this evening the game would not utilize my whole screen any more???
It is like the game 'forgot' how to size the screen. it is as if the game is in windowed mode when it is not. Could Steam have applied an update to Crysis that could have altered things???
the issue is there when i try it in XP (32 bit) and in Vista (64bit) - I am dual booted....
I have my screen resolution at 1280x1024 85Hz.
Any one have any ideas.??
I would take a picture of the issue but my camera batteries are dead..

For some reason crysis likes to uncheck itself from windowed mode for me, make sure it is.

It is in full screen mode. that is not the isuue.
It almost is like the game wont use the proper refresh rate.

I am surprised that no one else has chimed in with a thought....

ok... since a picture may help show my problem better here you go....
As you can clearly see, their is unused screen on both sides of the game image (and a smaller section on the top and bottom also)... I have lost over 2 inches of screen....!

AS I said in the first post... This is a new issue. I have not played Crysis in over a month... this problem was not their before.
Since I am now using Vista 64 I thought that it could be a vista issue. So I booted back in to XP 32 (where crysis has been installed since I bought it...) and the problem is also there???
knowing that Steam auto updates the games with all the latest patches - do you think that could be the issue?
And if it helps the monitor is a: IBM P275

is it keeping the same resolution as your desktop? It looks like a CRT which you are playing on and I remember on my old CRTs whenever I changed the resolution I had to re-stretch the image area to take up the entire screen.

Pic has me really curious. Why did someone feel the need to label the stapler??

:D:D:clap::p:screwy::beer: My daughter is looking at me wondering why I am laughing so hard. (sleep deprived and this struck a funny)
on my old desk where I had the stapler hung it was in a slight nook so it was hard to see ... so as a joke to my wife who could never see it (even knowing were it was) I labeled it.

In the menu I have the game set as the same resolution as my desktop... the funny thing is, when I set the game resolution to something else it does the same thing

It looks almost certainly like a CRT scaling issue. Can you manually adjust the width of the screen using the controls on the CRT itself?
Are you certain you are using the same resolution as your desktop, there are two common resolutions that start with 1280x (1280x960 and 1280x1024). 1280x960 is actually the correct resolution to use for a CRT with a 4:3 aspect ratio.

I did not know that about the CRT ratio...
1280x960 never tried that ratio....
I will give it a try and see what happens.

At least under Vista, the prt scrn button doesn't work in Crysis. You have to use F12.

well I set my desk top ratio to 1280x960 and did the same in Crysis...
While the game took up more of the screen their was still unused space on the sides...
I also noticed that I have my desk top set at 85Hz but according to the monitor once I start Crysis it drops to 60HZ...
Can I force Crysis to run at 85hz?

Have you tried stretching out the image to fill the screen using the knobs or buttons on the CRT itself?
I know when I used a CRT, it saved different settings for each different resolution. Give that a shot.
