I what to connect 2 computers so i can access data from one to the other...I have a 64k ISDN interent connection...im not concerned about getting internet access on both computer though that might be nice....right now my goal is to have one computer with internet access and to be able to share files between the two computers....both computers will be right next to each other( 2 feet apart).... both have Nic cards..
questions
1.do i need any other hardware?
2. what do i do(hehe)
3. one rig will have winxp pro the other win98se

p.s please dont laugh i know ISDN sucks but my only other option is 26.4 anolog...and thats realy bad! i ping 50 with my little 64k isdn on many q3 servers...

well you could get whats called a crossover cable that plus the nic cards togther, and some software that will allow you to make one pc the host and the other one to recivce.. that would be about 70 bucks, or u could get a hub and setup a network..

thanks for the reply Dissolved......a "crossover cable" is the name the part would go under say at www.pricewatch.com? and what software specifically ? what about data transfer speeds? we talking megabits i hope?

just get a crossover cable and set up windows networking.

Do a google search for some basic networking guides.

If you are really ambitious, you could make your own crossover cable. Littlewhitedog.com has pictures of what each side should look like, or here is a diagram.
