Do the new morgan cores have an internal diode to monitor temps. I have a new 1.2 GHz and I want to know if I have to use the mobos diode for MBM5? THNX

as far as i know there still arent any motherboards to read the internal diodes anyway but yes i think the morgan cores do have the diode

Can anyone verify this? I know that the 8K3A boards read the diode. If anyone has one o' them and a Morgan sitting around, could they try it out? Or else someone who built one of those MAX chip sensors for their MB....

I really need to know this for sure, b/c supposedly the K7D Master reads on-diode temps and I am trying to figure out how to configure MBM....

I have a Epox 8K3A and am currently running a 1Ghz Morgan in it...

in MBM i have 4 different temperature thingys to choose from: Winbond 1,Winbond 1 P2-Diode, Winbond 2, Winbond 2 P2-Diode.... problem is when i set it to either one of the "diodes" it says 127C+ which is not the right temperature.

See that's the thing... when I select any of the "diode" options in MBM for my K7D it shows temps of either 25 C (which never changes) or else like 95 C (which never changes) and I know both are wrong.

Demon eater, when your XP arrives, could you try to configure MBM again and tell us if you can successfully read the internal diode temps? That way we'd know if Morgan has the diode....

sure thing... you might have to remind me tho

What's the ETA on your new chip? I can definitely remind you.... that's no problem.

The duron does have an internal diode, I believe the functionality is exactly the same as the XP's--same pins and specs.

Well, what I am looking for is someone with a Morgan and a board that can read the diode.... or even just some word on how to configure MBM for the K7D...

The epox does read the thermal diode. Youre getting the wrong temps because you havn't enabled it in the bios or on the board. I don't now how to do it -if it is done in the bios or on the board, but I do know it can read the diode and the morgan core has the diode

okay tomorrow morning ill restart my computer.. :eh?: although i wanted to keep my internet up 4 days now and well never mind but my OS has been stable through it all running folding. but anyway ill read my book (epox manual) and find where it is and set it

I just read my Epox Manual and it made no mention of activating the internal diode reader at all whatsoever...

im going to flash my bios to the 6/19/02 one right now i have the 3/12/02 so maybe this option will magically appear when i do that..
