I have an OEM 32meg ddr radeon. Every time that I try to OC it 3d Mark 2001 locks up on me. I am using Powerstrip to OC. Also, the hsf on the card is pretty crappy, how would you recommend removing that thing? For the rest of my system, look at my profile at the end of this post. Thanks, and  drink one for me.

a few things, try upgrading the cooling on your videocard and case cooling..
to get the gpu HSF of, take the card and put it in the anti-static bag in the freezer for about 20mins.. then take it out, and use an old credit card and pray it off, just be easy...

haha, I froze my voodoo3 2000 pci without a bag or anything for 10 days because I was trying to destroy it in a creative way, then I took it out and when I went to pick it up off the frozen meat that it was on top off, a chunck came off that I was gripping and the rest was still stuck to it :)

Creative don't you think?

powerstrip did that on my radeon32ddr too. use the radeon tweaker(google search for it) i have the LE OEM and mines at 200/200. i saw almost a 1000*edit* point increase in 3dmark 2k1 buadding almost 50mhz to it
and enabling hyper z
all withstock cooling. the radeon tweaker alko lets u bump ut the mems timings too.great proggie
tell me how it turns out

As for case cooling, I think that I may already be a bit excessive, 2 4 inch fans, and a 120 mm case fan blowing right onto my cards throught the side cover. Thanks for the advice though on how to get the old hsf setup off of this card. That sounds like it should work.

Head down to radio shack and get some ramsinks and then get Arctic Allumina and Arctic Allumina Adhensive. Then buy a slot cooler. That should definitely keep the card cool as its already cool with the ramsinks and as you speak your going to replace the GPU cooler. And the card will be fed cool air at all times/.

about the slot cooler, it's not going to "feed" it any fresh air, cuz those things blow out, anyway. besides that, the opening on the slot cooler is in the completely wrong place to do any good with that le. i've got one, and the only way you're going to get any use out of a slot cooler is to have like 2 or three empty slots in between the card and the cooler and to duct the thing. also, try just throwing a li'l 40 mm(chipset) fan onto the stock heatsink . . . that is, if you don't feel comfortable with the whole freezer thing. obviously, it would be best if you pull the stock heatsink off and epoxy a real hs/fan combo on there. that's arctic silver/alumina epoxy, fyi, don't use that model crap, haha . . .

nah guys its true the oem radeons are crap, they run at 153mhz default and i can't get mine stable at 180. the LE is better.

Not necessarly. So what your saying they make that cooler for you to put under your cards to make it hotter?

There may be some confusion about what a "slot cooler" actually is here, are we referring to the little coolers that fit in a slot and blow air out, or the coolers that mount on top of your pci cards with two 80 or 92mm fans that blow straight down on your slots?:eh?::beer:

the LE's come at 153 and the oems are like 160 or so.
my le did quite well, actually. enabling hyper z with radeontweaker and bumping up the timings on the mem REALLY helps. TUK101, have u got it working yet? im curious to see how high it goes with all that cooling:)
