I have an 8800GTS512 and sony KDL XBR 6 LCD TV

Everything was fine for six months, then I reformatted.

When I select a resolution other than native (1080P) I get cropped edges.

I USED to be able to get perfect 1600X900, perfect 1280x720, but when I change the display mode on the PC now, it's like the TV doesn't pick it up. It just shows a cropped image- where about 1" of the screen is missing around the edges.

For example, at 720P, I have to 'resize desktop' to about 684 from 720 to see the whole screen.

Since this WORKED FINE before I reformatted with the same TV and PC I can't figure out whats up.

Pretty sure it is a different driver version but I dont remember which I was using before and AFAIK TV settings have not changed

Try playing with the scaling options in the nvidia control panel.

i believe he meant the options like scale to fit/stretch to fill/ let monitor scale/ 1:1. I believe these options are buried in nvidia controls somewhere

have you tried the S-video from you card to your TV? they make a S-video to componet adapter. I have they same problem with my 8800gt and that was the only fix i could find. hope that helps

I was ready to pull my hair out with this same issue a few months ago on the ATI side of things - but my issue was the opposite - Black Bar all the way around my 1080P TV. Look for the "Scaling" or "Underscan/Overscan" settings in your Video Driver's Control Panel. Set it to "0" or "no over/under scan".

I have to do this everytime I update my Video Drivers - so it is likely your older driver either omitted scaling or had a "0" dfault setting - and the new driver is specifying an Overscan for some reason. Also - This ONLY seems to happen on the HDMI out - or at the very least this might be enabled if the display is reported as a "TV" (scaling) opposed to a "Computer Monitor" (no scaling)

Yup over/underscan adjustment should fix it perfectly :)
