So I have been trying to install Half life 2 Cinematic mod, both version 10RC and 9 Base and both are giving me the same problem. They install but then when I try to run them they claim that steam is not running when it infact is.
Steam was closed when I installed them. This is in Windows 7 Professional x64.
Has anyone else tried cinematic mod or had any similar problems?

I didn't have any problem running it on Vista64, haven't tried on windows 7 yet. I'm not sure which version I was running, I downloaded it around half a year ago.

Saw it mentioned somewhere that 64-bit versions of HL2 was disabled for the time being. Maybe that is what is causing the issue?

I know version 10 and I think version 9 are disabled for 32-bit OSs
"The 'normal' HD version, with a lot of HD textures and characters. This version requires a fast pc with at least 4GB of ram and a high-end grapichs card. A 64bit Windows version is required."
That might be what you are thinking of, but I am running a 64-bit OS (which I did just double check in DXdiag)

hl2 ep1 and 2 need to be installed
hl2 ep1 and 2 need to be run at least once
steam needs to be running
you need to start the mod from the mod dir itself, there is a shortcut / exe there
also, on ver 10 you need to run the character conversor

Actually version 9 u can run 32-bit its not recommended. Sure you can with version 10 as well, just that you'll have to close and load the game a lot I have a feeling.
No what im saying is there was something, forgot where it was posted that Valve disabled 64-bit exe file for HL2 and some of the other games because of a glitch. Said it would be put back but only in due time. Not sure what that was all about but swear I read about it this summer.

I think you are right, I believe I read that as well. In that case is it just not possible to run the mod or what do I do?

hey ppl !!!!!
from the author's website, I downloaded the Verstion 10
but I try to download 10 RC (that includes beta 2 and 3 as stated ba the author) torrent and the link does not work !!!
Can anyone test it ???
Is there any other torrent out there working that I can download RC ???
I can't wait to re-play the game with this mod !!!!!
Also, i have 2 questions:
1) I've heard that you have to do some "character conversion" on the process of installinf. How is that ?
2) Do I need a fresh game or can I start playing where I have my saved game ????
Thanks in advance for all your help !!!!!

the rapidshare links works for the release candidate. It's kind of a pain but you can use those. As for testing purposes just install 10b1 or 9 if you are curious if you want to test it.
