Hi Everyone :welcome:
I'm going to purchase another 4870x2 to make my system quadfire however I'm concerned about the power drain on my PSU. Can anyone tell me what the peak consumption will be.

I'm running a 900w PSU and all i know for definate is that my CPU is pulling 185W peak under full load. Ive also got 1 HDD and will have 4 DDR3 slots full and 1 DVD-R, oh and my PPU card which probably takes naff all power. As for cooling i am on air with 6 3000rpm 120mm fans installed. I have no lights etc.

My best guess is that I will be ok for power however I have never combined 2 seperate GPU's together. I'm thinking the power drain will be around the 800w mark but I know some of you will have more experience than me regarding this so I could be way off for all i know.

Any tips on quadfire will also be appreciated. I plan on running the cards on 1920x1200. I have also heard that a second card will not double my memory but will double my processing speeds so my system will still only use 2gb GPU RAM, is this true?

PS I have asked my local computer shop "overclockers.co.uk" but for some reason they were trying to put me off the idea. I don't know if its cuz im a girl or if he was just being a tw@ so I thought I'd ask you guys .

Thanks
Katie
