hello I should be recieving my amd athlon 1 ghz cpu with the AHYJA-Y stepping, I hear it can overclock to 1.5 ghz without much trouble. So what would that be like 11.5 * 133. But there are a few concerns i have. I have a FIC AZ11e motherboard, I hear it can overclock and have fsb increase setting,. and multiplier settings in the bios. What would i typically need to do that good of an overclock? what kind of hsf? Also would I need to take any precautions when raising my fsb , because i have a nic and a voodoo 3 3000 agp in my pci and agp slots. Can raising the fsb damage my pci/agp cards? Also will there be a huge increase on my cmputer from a duron 700 to a 1 ghz athlon o/c to like 1.5 or 1.6 ghz?

Get back to me
Thanks
- Jon

btw my currenct pc is the following:
Duron 700 (not o/c)
Fic Az11e motherboard
256 MB PC 133 ram
4x4x24 mitsumi writer
52x aopen cd rom drive
micronix nic
15 gig hd
1 gig hd
(Not the best pc but it gets the job done)(and also have a dual 1.2ghz athlon, but only use that for video editing, and it isn't connected to internet)

Sorry, bro.... the AZ11E is KT133 chipset and you won't hit 133 FSB with it. Not even close. Maybe 107-110 MHz. And since you're probably limited to 12x on multipliers, you're looking at a 1320 MHz theoretical max speed.

The 1 GHz Athlon of that stepping typically overclocks well, though. But you'd be better off getting a new motherboard for it.

I went from a duron 700@1000MHz to a T-Bird 1.2@1400MHz. And there is a big differ, believe me! :D

Welcome aboard!

That chip will OC very nicely, but like SickBoy said, you'll need a new motherboard and a nice heatsink to realize its full potential. Check out the AMD motherboards forum for MB recommendations and the Cooling Forum for Advice on a good HS/F.

Good luck with yer chip! :)
