View Full Version : 120mm Blow Hole

I was thinking of adding a 120m YSTech mounted on the side of my case over the cpu. I've currently got a Glaciator II on the cpu, plus x2 120 YStechs in the case already.
What i was wondering is, will the size of the centre of the fan have an effect on the cooling?
Would a funnel be a good idea?
What do people think?

I was thinking blowing air in, right over the cpu.
I didn't think sucking was a good idea, because of the heat sink fan. :D
I'm open to ideas though :)

If you are going to have a fan sucking air out, it should be on the top of the case. Since hot air rises, it would get rid of it much easier. Also if you want to put one on the side (which is a very good idea), make sure it is blowing in. That way, not only will your cpu get a little cooler, but your mobo and everything on it too!:D

I have a pair of 120's on the side for intake, they're staggered abit. one is directly over my video agp and sound pci slots. and the other is aimed at the center of my mobo/hs. I use another 120 in the top as a blowhole. works for me.

I'll tell you one tip about 120 mm blow holes... for a template a standard CD ( compact disc) is the perfect size of the fan section
then get a 120mm grill for the position of the 4 holes... works great :D :D

i went w/ the 120 sucker on top along 3 addt'l 80's (2 in front, 1 in back) all drawing in ambient...
then i got bored and i cracked my p.s. and flipped the fan to suck, as well as throwing a little 60 on the front to assist
if and when i get everything put back together i'll get some pics posted

Do you mean the actual CD, or the CD case?
Duct the heat sinks fan to the side of the case so it will pull fresh room air in and blow it directly on to the heat sink.
This will for sure drop tems on your system.
