Hi.
I'm sure that some of you experienced o/c's are aware of this but the AGP size set in the bios has a major impact on the benchmarks in 3D2001. For instance on my GF3 Ti 200 my score has improved by over a thousand by setting the agp SIZE TO 128 Mb instead of the 64Mb that my vid card has. It has it's limits and if I go to 256Mb strange graphics can appear and the benchmark drops again.
Please do try this and benchmark your system. I'd be interested to know your results.
Regards.
Andy.

You're seeing those results for a reason. The AGP Aperture size setting in the BIOS tells your system how much memory you address as whole to the AGP bus.

The system memory often gets used to store textures for immedate retrival when they're needed to create an image or sequence.

If you set your AGP aperture size to 64meg in the BIOS and you have a video card with 32 meg of memory the first 32 meg get's addressed to the card, the next 32 gets addressed from system RAM and is dynamically adjusted as needed.

If you set your Aperture size to 128 meg, you then address 96meg of system memory and so on.

werid i have mine set at 256mb it would be nice to see what kind of hardware you are running so we could compare it with our own ;)

i would worry about your video card memory or the chipset drivers or anything else because that is not a common possibility. you should not get such difference running the bench using that 64MB video card. actually, big difference was common back to the time when video cards used to have 16MB and 8MB video memory, even so, difference would be reasonable when running intensive 3d applications that time. most of the application we have now cannot demand more than 64MB video memory. when they do, an agp aperture size of more than 32MB will rarely be needed.

My hardware is:-

AMD XP1600+
Abit KT7A V1.0
512 MB PC133
HERCULES GF TI 200

let me know if you need some more.
