Extreme Cooling Insulating Guide - sno.lcn formatting Deanzo's thread for the front page
10-05-09, 09:17 AM
Even if its news or lighter reading, we'll need some content to get thru the week.
10-05-09, 10:23 PM
Extreme cooling is a bit harder to find postable content for. I send a few requests out, but haven't heard anything back yet.
10-05-09, 10:57 PM
I'd also be interested in some n00b extreme cooling guides, that anyone in extreme cooling could write (and your benching buddies could vet).
Just rolling out some easier targets until the heavier aritcles are ready.
10-06-09, 07:38 AM
I'll start writing up something this afternoon :)
Updated my first post.
10-12-09, 10:53 PM
Have you had any time for this stuff sno?
10-14-09, 09:17 AM
I'm still working on a writeup. I'm on vacation until Sunday so it's progressing a little slowly at the moment. I'm also studying up on TEC cooling since I know nothing about it :-/
10-14-09, 09:41 AM
Cool, thanks for the update
10-19-09, 09:12 AM
Sounds like you may have something ready this week sno?
10-19-09, 01:09 PM
Yes, should have something finished in a day or so
10-20-09, 04:56 PM
I'm wrapping up the overview of the different types of extreme cooling. I'll use it as in intro to a series of upcoming articles discussing various topics under the subject, and guides dedicated to each one. After this one I thin the next will be an insulation guide I'll be putting together using a thread Deanzo wrote up a few months ago.
10-21-09, 08:41 AM
Sounds great sno.
10-21-09, 04:06 PM
"An Introduction To Extreme Cooling" article has been sent :)
10-21-09, 04:26 PM
Dude, that article kicks ass. I made minor typographical corrections. It's been submitted to Joe for publishing.
10-21-09, 04:55 PM
I'll start working on the insulation guide in a bit
10-26-09, 10:37 AM
I've asked a pot builder to write an article on how pots are made and received a 'maybe' so I'll update when I know more
*Edit: Just heard back, he's agreed to write the article. He's ordering supplies now for new units, and will do an article in the form of a build log of sorts. Bartx does fantastic work, and I'll probably be buying one of the next rounds of CPU pots from him.
10-28-09, 12:31 PM
Good news, thats excellent! Thanks for the update!
11-03-09, 03:16 PM
Sub zero cooling insulation guide should be in your hands this evening :)
*Edit: And submitted
11-11-09, 10:38 AM
Still need to process your insulation guide, will be getting to that tonight. Anything else cooking?
Great work by the way with the FPD threads, so nice having that taken care!
11-11-09, 10:42 AM
I'll get working on a DI/LN2 benching guide
11-11-09, 10:45 AM
Great, looking forward to it! Your a machine man.
11-21-09, 10:01 AM
Your insulation guide is awaiting publishing, as well as a GTX 275 piece.
How's the DI/LN2 thing going?
11-21-09, 07:44 PM
It's going great, just trying to find time in between motherboard reviews
12-02-09, 03:25 PM
Hey Sno, just a heads up that Hokie will be checking up with you every so often.
12-02-09, 03:27 PM
No problem
12-02-09, 03:43 PM
Subscribed! (Yes, this is my lazy way of not clicking subscribe. ;) )
12-08-09, 09:49 AM
Heya, just checking in. How's your guide coming? I'm excited to read it. :)
12-08-09, 10:07 AM
I think the insulation guide may be ready hokie, we should probably get that scheduled for tomorrow.
EDIT: I formatted the pictures for this prior to having standards. We can publish it as is, or we can reformat the pictures to fit with our new standards we've been discussing. This article's been waiting a while, I'd be ok with either.
12-08-09, 10:10 AM
Err..yea, that one I knew about. Sorry, should have referred to WHAT guide. I was talking about the LN2/DI guide. :)
12-08-09, 10:34 AM
It's going, trying to be as thorough as possible in explaining everything clearly enough :)
12-08-09, 11:02 AM
NP, just following up.
12-08-09, 06:00 PM
Lots of great stuff is in the works for this section. NoL is contributing some content, and if you've ever read any of his threads in the extreme cooling section, you know readers are in for a treat :)
12-08-09, 08:32 PM
Heh, ask him about that three-stage cascade someone bumped. I want to see that thing come to life!
12-30-09, 04:52 PM
Anything shaking on the extreme cooling front?
12-31-09, 10:10 AM
Yep, need to get a few things organized. Been on vacation since school got out for winter, and until around Jan. 10, so I'm still working on things, just at a slower pace.
12-31-09, 10:30 AM
Cool, thx for the update.
01-05-10, 07:57 AM
Hey sno, here's a beginner's sub-zero experience (http://overclockers.com/forums/showthread.php?p=6354596#post6354596) in the making for you.
EDIT - FYI, torin3 is set up as an author and will work on this lager once he gets his parts and such, rough ETA is slightly over a month. Please follow up with him for future timeline info. :)
01-10-10, 07:04 PM
BTW, school starts tomorrow so I'm finally back on from vacation
01-15-10, 12:19 PM
Glad you're back...have you gotten to work giving me an update yet?
01-25-10, 01:18 PM
I pm'd otternase at XS and asked for a translation of this and permission to post on the front page http://www.awardfabrik.de/kuhlung-extrem/extremedition-spezial-mit-5-5-kg.html
01-25-10, 01:25 PM
I don't know what that says, but the pictures sure are pretty.
03-13-10, 03:22 PM
Anyone else doing anything in Extreme Cooling sno?
05-13-10, 09:28 AM
Hey there Mr. Graduate...anything you know of popping up in the Extreme Cooling area?
On that note, I'm supposed to be getting a pot to review / write up an article on, ETA whenever they finish manufacturing the packaging.
05-19-10, 12:56 PM
I have a new pot! I'll write something up when I bench with it for the first time in a few weeks :D
05-19-10, 01:11 PM
Awesome! Maybe we can collaborate on a compare/contrast for the two pots in a third article and explain what makes one better than the other - stuff like that.
Where is yours from? Dimastech is the company that said they were sending me one....at some point.
05-19-10, 04:13 PM
It's a Ryba unit I bought from TPU classifieds last month.
10-12-10, 09:26 AM
GoD_tattoo now has a WP account and will be working on an alternative insulation how-to for the front page, see this thread (http://www.overclockers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=657182) (in the Team Lounge, only members can get to that).
I should be live-streaming some sub-zero action probably the weekend after this coming one. It's not an article, but is extreme. :)
If I ever find a dewar I'd be happy to help, unfortunately I'm relegated to DICE only right now. :(
Edit: I'm sure if I'm supposed to be here, lol, remove if needed. :P
10-12-10, 01:14 PM
Thanks for the update
10-23-10, 08:56 PM
Hokie suggested I write something like a "Single Stage: Cleanup and Experience" article based on this thread (http://www.overclockers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=656711). I won't have a problem writing up the modding part of it, but I don't really know what you would be looking for in the extreme cooling part of it...
I've already mentioned this in my modding CE thread, I just forgot to give you a heads up. I'll be starting on this after my Shaman review and Heatsink Improv articles are complete.
