I have always been curious about some of the memory settings in my bios('s). I guess they keep trying to hide the information. I am not trying to ask you to go a-hunting for the new link, but it is a sticky post, and I guess it is staying at the top of the list. I see that 577 people have been to it. So, more might come, I figure. I guess, if you know where the link is, you could update the post. If not, no biggie. Thanks.

yipie the revision 7 is out there thanx ppz we need theze cinda revisions cos rookies ask so many dumb questions (like me ) that they get triked all the time.

(for example some guy asked why hes modem lights turn on of all the time and was afraid been hacked, damn how dumb one can be hes surfing talking with ppz on mirc and thinks net activity hacking, damn, so the guyz pulled off a moronic trick they saed him to push cntr alt del 2 times, damn, and so he did 3 times, and then he was like .... amm why my comp restarts :D doh and then there is more funn they told him to del a tree on c:\ to keep the hakcers away.no futher infomation about that guy :) )

So dont be fuled be cearfoul what u read !

But i hear ocs is good ram 333 mhz one (pc2700) wil go to 195 mhz stable so im thinking of buying that and abits kr7 raid for the top of 200mhz ram bandwith as i hear :).

Got a question....My corsair cas2 ram says that if I only use one stick of ram I am able to use cas2. If I use more than one stick of ram I must use 2.5cas. My question is.....if I am using two sticks am I still able to set the bios at cas2? Does the computer still see cas2.5 even if I set it to 2?

so from reading that guide i'm still not sure about the AGP Aperture Size. It says that it is better to keep it at 64MB but if you have to you can go to 128MB. But it didn't really give a reason why (that i caught at least).

My friend says i should keep it at 128MB. I have a 64MB Gforce4 w/ 512MB of ram.

CAS Latency defined:

http://www.kingston.com/tools/umg/umg10.asp

CAS Latency
The ratio between column access time and clock cycle time. CAS Latency 2 (CL2) offers a slight performance increase over CAS Latency 3 (CL3).

I could not read the bios guide... don't know what's going on with that page right now...

anyway... the kingston glossary page is great, but it don't mention the obscure numbers in CAS... like, everybudy knows that latency should be the lowest numbers, since latency means WAIT, and fast overclocked computers dont wait :)

but i can't figure out the numbers that follow CAS latency 2.5

like... when i see an ad "CAS 2.5 1-2-3-4" i doesn't mean nothing to me... WHAT ARE THOSE NUMBERS? ...And do they make any diference if i'm not goingo to overclock a computer, like then main CAS number?

Hello,

I need this information like today. What kind of impact will CL3 have on performance when used on pc3200. This is compared to CL2.5. Its kingston value ram I ordered some in and well they got the CL3 stuff when I wanted the CL2.5. This will be running dual channel.

Hi'ya Gents,

Old and long running thread. Many references to some amazingly good reference... but I can't find the link.

I feel like I'm searching for the Revealed Truth of All Existence or digging for the Oracle at Delphi [1].

Or I'm just having a senior moment

Either way, HEP OUT A BROTH'A, PLEEZE...

BTW, I'm new here. So hello all. I'll just stumble over and ring the bell, signalling a round for the house on me!

...and if your know that tradition it's KHUN CodeToad, yea?;)

Cheers,
CodeToad

[1] The Oracle in GREECE, not the one in Redwood Shores CA... sadly I know the later much too well! Both are known for sacrificing virgins...
