anyone have this? seems like a good card for the money. Gotta any better ideas for the money?
I really want a Xonar, but since I live in communist Iceland the only sound cards in any stores are Creative cards, yuck.
Nope, I want to get the Xonar DX..... Instead I'm building a secondary rig though.... Should get my priorities straight I guess.
the asus xonar is really a great card, and for the money i dont think there is anything that comes close. possibly an e-mu 0404 would be better but thats for strictly music and no gaming. auzentech and ht omega make nice cards, but xonar is unbeatable for the money
a creative x-fi titanium is not that bad of a card, its just not worth the money
Agreed, nothing comes close. EAX emulation makes it perfect.

Soooo why don't you send a friend in the USA/CANADA/EUROPE money through western union, they buy you the card and ship it to you.
Its not like its illegal or anything.

If you only plan to use 2/2.1 get the new essence card. It is designed for amazing 2 channel. Also has headphone amp.
Otherwise the D2 series in PCI or PCIX is great.
I have a D2PM. no complaints.
STILL nothing I have ever used touches, within 50%, the $200 Auzen meridian card I used to have. Why I didn't keep it I don't know. That was perfection.
Watching regular definition cable, through an old ATI all in wonder, with the sound being piped through a 28AWG cable out the back of the vid card into the line in on the meridian, watching married with children, I HEARD peggy walk from the rug in the entrance, over linoleum, over the carpet in the living room, onto tile in the kitchen- so perfectly, so clearly, my jaw was hanging open for half an hour. It was incredible. Used the same CMI chip as the Xonar D2

Seriously, pay a little extra to get what you want. Regularly things available in the US aren't available in Australia, I have a one word solution: eBay.
Thats how I'm getting my Athlon II X4 620, the thing hasn't geen released in Australia. Just in the US as far as I can tell. Costs a little more due to shipping but thats it.

Is Australia having the worst economical situation since the great depression? Iceland is :/.

Nope, Australia's doing it better than the rest of the world pretty much. More like an economical hiccup. Yes, the US is our biggest trading partner and strongest ally, but China buy's a large amount of their raw materials from us.
We're kind of better positioned than the rest of the world to ride this out. Unemployment figures aren't too bad either. If there's one thing I've liked about this economic climate it's spurred a lot of tech companies to come out with enthusiast level eequipment built for the budget market.
If the Coolermaster Sileo 500 hadn't come out I'd have had to shell out an additional $150 for the Antec P183. Thr price difference allowed me to get an SSD as my primary hard drive.
You can get the Sileo 500 for $96 Australian here, that's just $85 US dollars. How good is that for such a well designed silent case!
Yeah, well in Iceland, salaries have halved, and prices have gone up if anything...Was making $15 per hour last year, this summer I was making $8 per hour, same job, same place. And that was the only job I could get because of unemployment.
I have no job (student) and $800 is ALL my money .

Bugger that. I'm still on $32 an hour on a 40 hour work week, I preferred my old contract of $35 and hour on a 46 hour work week but hey. I changed jobs to something lwoer when I saw the signs the economy was about to go to crap. It paid off, I still in a job when others have been laid off.

The D1 is a normal PCI card, the DX is PCI express, I think thats the only difference.
