I got a gtx 280 and the X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Pro Series card, trying to get sound through the hdmi cable via dvi/hdmi connector. the video card has an internal spdif connection but my sound card doesnt, there are alot of pins on the sound card, does anyone know which pins are part of the spdif connection, if any at all.

There aren't any labels by the pin-puts on the Audio Card? It should have some sort of tiny silk-screened label near the electical SPDIF header (if the card has one at all). Use the jumper cable that came with your Video card (if the Video Card supports this, it should have come with the short SPDIF jumper), and configure onboard sound to default to Digital/SPDIF output.

If your soundcard doesn't have a SPDIF header, you are out of luck with regard to integrated HDMI Audio pass-thru.

You're supposed to fit a cable connector onto all the pins on the connector and you then take that to an optional front panel with various plugs and inputs/outputs you can use. Creative likes selling the optional front panel thing so they keep the pin-outs "secret". I've seen some pictures that people got a hold of and posted that shows the pin-outs, but they vary by card model.

Here's a cheater for the X-Fi Titanium Pro but when the question got asked previously I couldn't find anything specific for that X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Pro model:
