The Netgear WGT624 is listed as compatible with DD-WRT and OpenWrt.
I tried flashing to the DD-WRT firmware using the Web GUI interface. The upload seemed to abort without giving notice of abort.
I noticed that other IDs on the router are "WGR614v2". It would seem that WGR614v2 and WGT624 may be identical in internal hardware.
How can third-party firmware be installed on the Netgear WGT624?

DD-WRT is a for pay software. So if you have a WGT624v4 and pay them you can use their firmware.
Personally, I'd check the OpenWRT folks instead. Much more knowledgeable and nicer people to boot.

Only v4 of the WGT624 is supported by DD-WRT. v1 and v2 are being worked on but they have no ETA.
Because the Atheros chip in the Netgear router is very hard to work with, v4 requires a paid activation in order to use.
According to OpenWRT's hardware wiki, they do not have a working version for any of the WGT624s.
What version is your WGT624?

Status: "WIP" They do not have a working version.
Also, when you go to http://www.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv3/dd-wrt/hardware.html to download the firmware and type in "wgt624" you can see that v4 is the only one with a firmware download and it requires a paid license.
