I've recently put together a EVGA P55LE 860 rig for my HTPC and I noticed the multiple options on controlling the cpu's fan speed by temp control. In fact you can set 3 differnt fan speeds depending on temperture.
OTOH, my twice as expensive UD5 only has AUTO/PWM/Voltage settings in bios which has my dark night fan running at an annoying 1800-2000 RPM at only a cpu temp of 35-40C. I've tried HWMONITORPRO and speedfan and they both can't control the fan speed. Is there anyway of quieting my noisy fan other than just disconnecting the fan from the mobo and runing it at 7V via wire mod?
