I have a Soyo k7v dragon + and i am trying to set up the raid but the book is pretty vague and i havent found anything online that would help me. I don't know much about raid and i would like to know how to set up the hard drives and get my windows to recognize the controller.

1st: Enable the raid controller, jumper on the mobo.
2nd: Install hardware, 1 drive per channel, both drives set at master.
3rd: Enter the Fasttrack bios and setup your RAID array. Choose "performance"(stripe), for RAID 0(I guess thats what u want?). Block size: desktop works good.
4th: Software installation: Now dis is de tricky part: How do you intenend to use your raid setup? As a bootable disc, or a 2nd drive=?

If you intend to use it as a 2nd(or 3rd or whatever), you can make the software install from windows: Just enter the system menu and install the drivers from the CD and you should be ready to go.

If you intend to boot from it: First you need to set the boot order in the BIOS: Whatever order you like, but SCSI must come before any HDD´s(HDD0, HDD1 etc). SCSI boot: RAID/SCSI(default).
The software installation depends on what Windows you are using: Windows 98/me: Boot from the CD, but choose the option where you only start it in DOS mode with CD-support. Enter FDISK and setup the drive. Then reboot and start windows installation. Install the final drivers after full windows installtion.

Windows NT/2000/XP: You need to copy some filez from the Soyo CD(see page 105/106). You will need to use that diskette during Windows setup, your raid array won´t be recognized otherwise.

Good luck! :)

Henry

Thanks Henry I did not enable it in the bios thats why i was having problems. Sometimes i dont think of the obvious. I set it up but went back to my original setup without Raid. I have heard that Raid arrays make it harder to overclock.

They do? I have a pretty much altered PCI frequenzy(this is what should matter), and it works good! Can´t be sure about this though.

Henry.
