At our university, they managed to get an AthlonXP 2000 to run at 2.08GHz! They used liquid cooling and 2.3V and everything went well.

Currently, they are using the PC for scientific research along with three other computers which yeilded the same results.

2.08GHz Athlon Power!!!

that sounds cool, at my university were starting a hardware reliability engineering class, sponsored by AMD

we should be getting our first 10 processors and 4 mobos in the next couple of days

keep us informed on your class

Wow you got your 1600 to 1.85G that awesome. What stepping is that thing and when/where/who did you buy it from.

the stepping is in my sig as for who i got it from it was just the local computer store around here and it wasent stable that high without tempratures under 30C at that time i put my radiator in my window to get thos temps but still everything else was way out of spec because of that high of fsb

still i kept a snapshot of the benchmarks because well lol u see that p4 2g eat my dust

bobt17 ,

What voltage are you running the chip at @ 1.7G? Thats the same stepping Hoot has , he has it running @ 1.8G w/ 1.9v and both of you are water cooling.

AGNGA Y looks like the stepping I'm looking for :).

This is a good way to represent a benchmark, date and time with mhz.

yaaaaAAY ! have you seen the 2.2@3.0 northwood benchmark @ tomshardware ? the overclocked 2.2 runs just like 10-20% faster if you oc it to 3 gig or higher!!!! so you might beat that chip with your 1600+ hahahahah

:eh?: doesnt make sence....?

what didnt you get?

on the bench you see an oced 1600+ beating the pee4 2gig. as the 2.2 is just 10% faster than the p4 2gig, and just 20% faster when its oced to 3gig, his 1600+ could beat the pee42.2@3gig....

im waiting for the hammer:D 2300mhz that would blow an intel 3.4ghz (3gig is the highest planned so far by intel) and this is in 32bit! hammer also runs 64 bit apps :p bye bye intel:burn:

TranceBear have you not unlocked this puppy yet. You should be able to reach 1900Mhz+ with the XP2000+ unlocked m8...

I could only reach 1.78Mhz with my XP1900+ locked. Once I unlocked the old girl I am now running my system stable @ 1863Mhz (169X11).

Go ahead and unlock the power!!!

intel will also be releasing there .10 micron that will compete with the AMD, it too will be capable of 64bit

another thing, the P4 won't show very well past 2.4-2.5Ghz + until the new 133 x 4 bus system comes out

right now, there is a limitation in bandwidth for the bus, thats why you see little change when jumping past 2.4 Ghz

Don't get me wrong, AMD is putting out a great product, and they will continue too

this competition is great for us, we get better products for cheaper

Yep that's right, the system busses are way to slow for todays CPU's. We need better RAM's and chipset's that can handle higher FSB speeds.
And yes, competition is great! :)

1Ghz QDR Ram.....Yum!
