i'm having an issue not being able to boot from USB, turns out my BIOS isn't set up to do that 
from what i've read i need to update it. my current version is Acer 3B07, my mother board is an Acer TravelMate 3000 i found this site. there's just so much spam out there i can't tell if this is the one i need. i don't wanna risk flashing this new one and ruining my system. i know it's a complicated issue but if someone can give me some advice i'd appreciate it.
