My friend way back whenever had both HL2 and CS:S. Well the fool that he is, he got himself VAC banned. I on the other hand, have just about every valve game BUT CS:S. We where wanting to know, if he gifts CS:S to me, will his VAC ban have any bearing on my account?

I really really doubt it... I don't think it works like that. As long as you are playing CSS on your account nothing really matters who gifts you that game.

He cannot gift you CS:S from his account. For one thing, you can only gift copies if you specify them as a gift at time of purchase, you can't play the game on one account and then gift it to another account.

If that was so, he could just make another false account and re-gift himself the game after being banned.

Even though what you were thinking of doing is impossible, if he were to gift you the game by purchasing it and giving it to you, his VAC status would have no effect, as it's per account. Him gifting you a game would be just like him buying a retail copy and handing it to you.

too bad we can't gift a used game, I mean why not, its already been used, whats the difference between that and giving somebody the CDs.
