Hail
I've just upgraded my p2 300 to a Celeron 900, but I can't get it further than 675. I'm using a p3v133 motherboard, and the cpu is attached on a 370 PPGA card (that doesn't let me change the cpu voltage on it).
It's currently running with 75Mhz FSB, and when I boost it to 83 it just get stucked on the booting.
Can someone help me to get the cpu to at least its real speed?
Thanks!

So your using a slotket? - Should be having an "auto feature"

Go into the bios and make sure you set the default voltage and FSB to 100 that should do the trick with a multiplier of 9.

LOL, your problem is that that cpu was designed to run at 100 fsb. At 75 mhz, you are essentially *underclocking* that cpu. See if that motherboard will let you set a jumper or set it to 100 fsb in the bios to get that thing at least running as hard as it was designed to run.

Heya,

Might be the PPGA slotkey you are using. It might not support 100 FSB. If it doenst, it wont allow the signal to the MB to allow running a FSB higher than 75 to 83Mhz.

If that is the case, then you will need a new slotket that supports FC-PGA for the higher bus speeds. I would check out your slotket first, before doing anything else.

a bios flash may also be necessary for you to run that chip

Thanks u all but...
1°: The slotket is already on the auto setting
2°: It supports up to 133 FSB
3: 75Mhz is the only FSB that the system runs. At 83Mhz the system stucks on the booting, at 100Mhz the monitor doesn't even turn on...
4°: This motherboard doesn't let me set anything on bios, and my fingers are already bleeding by changing the jumpers position, hehehe

Anyother ideas? I think it's just a idiot detail that I didn't figured out yet... oh, that always happens to me!

HELP!

Ah, I forgot, that Bios Flash thing. What exactly is that?

Thanks

Hmmm..

Another idea...

What is your memory rated at for speed?

It should be rated for PC100 or better, if its PC66, thats what is holding you back.

What kind of board do you have? Try needlenose pliers for changing jumpers

If you have an AGP card your AGP ratio should be set to 2/3 not 1/1 at 100FSB. Also your RAM must be PC100 or higher to run at 100FSB

a bios flash is an update to your bios...browse through your motherboard manufacturers website in the support or downloads section and there should be bios update downloads with instructions

Hmm
i'll look for the Bios Flash then
My RAM is pc 133 for sure... But that agp ratio... How do I set that?
And what about the frequency multiple? I've changed that and nothing changed, it only changes when I mess with the FSB... The multiple does anything to do about it?

Thanks

Usually your bios should show you a menu where you pick AGPBUS divider etc. If not its most likely your board is on auto "2/3" for that option.

I guess you can try the bios flash. Go to your board manufacture select your boards and they should have support for the lastest bios flash.
