Can you use a keyboard mouse on a PS3 to play games? Like fallout3? Anything really...

I'd like to be able to play quite a few PS3 FPS if I get one-- people told me not to go 360-- but I dont do thumbsticks. Killzone is another one I'd wanna go mouse/kb on.

If I got a pS3 it'd be a slim. the 90nm version is too hot.

No, both the PS3 and 360 can use a mouse and keyboard but the games have to support them and I don't know of any that do. Some games support keyboard which makes it nice for those people who like to go through and edit all the names in NCAA football or something and of course you can use the mouse and keyboard in the PS3's dashboard but no games.

There is this device which is kind of pricey that emulates the mouse and keyboard functions to it but it's sketchy at best and not worth it.

Unreal Tournament 3 is the only game I know of that supports keyboard and mouse.

But... think of it this way: You have a PC if you're hell-bent on playing with a keyboard and mouse. These console games play completely differently than their PC counterpoints (COD4 is a great example of that.)

They're actually DESIGNED to be played with a controller... WITH force feedback.

So if I were you... I'd just get used to it. Or at least try it before saying you can't stand it.

slight correction, they don't have force feedback, they have vibration/rumble. Force feedback is when the control stick or steering wheel actually fights with you and pulls in different directions.

Ah! Never really thought about it that way before!

Do they still make anything like that?

I think normal controllers ARE force feedback, then. Because if you think about it, the joysticks are resisting, trying to go the way other than they way you press them - unlike a mouse. I know it's not the same as those arcade steering wheels... but this is a lite version.

Let's call it force feedback lite :D

Yes you can, I do it right now on the xbox 360. Any type of of FPS game I'll play with mouse and keyboard unless i'm playing wth my girlfriend then she gets ****ed so I use a controller :( . The XIM 360 I believe will also work for the PS3. Check out the website I believe there are some mods to make it work with the PS3 as well.

Its a moded controller by the way, you put a chip in the controller and the software will map the mouse and keyboard movements to the controller and then to the console itself. The thing is though the software and hardware can only be as senstiive as the controller itself. So by using this techonlogy the only advantage you are getting is the ability to use a mouse and keyboard rather than joysticks, etc. You can't technically move any faster than someone with a controller. So its not exactly like PC gaming but you can get it close by going to the in game settings of any game and setting the sensitivity to INSANE. Any guy with a controller can do this as well thats why I still think its not a big issue. If you were modding the controller to say be able to spam a key press then I think that is an issue. This is simply mapping the controller to a different device.

You can't get banned by it though, its untraceable and there is an insane amount of people using it currently for xbox 360. It spread like wild fire but it isn;'t cheap. A controller is like almost 200 bucks. the name of it is XIM 360
