I've been scratching my head about this one. I just migrated our old mail server to the integrated mail server in OS X Server. For the most part it is working, however I'm having a couple of problems. I have a user from Canada who cannot send email through my server, I've opened up relay access to his IP address and included his specific hostname, but his Outlook keeps telling him that it can't connect to the SMTP server. He can download his emails from my server just fine. In the logs I can see him connecting to download, but in the SMTP logs I never see any indication that his computer is trying to connect. The weird part is that I can setup a new account with his credentials on a separate computer (or my phone) and through separate networks and it all works great. I've asked him to try downloading Thunderbird, create his email there, and see if it works but he hasn't done that yet. Any suggestions?
The second issue I'm having is with SASL passwords according to the logs. This server goes to a third party server that filters incoming email for spam and viruses before it reaches the mail server. I believe the filtering is working, and myself and my users are getting incoming emails fine. The problem here is when I try to go to the webmail spam quarantine interface the third party provides, from that site I can login for each user's email address and see what spam has been caught in the quarantine, quite often some legit stuff gets in there as the filter is set to be very strong. Since I migrated to postfix/cyrus anytime I try to login at that site I get a password error for any user I try. In the server's logs the error I keep getting is "SASL login authentication error for user <email address>. I've battled with changing settings and reading many posts/articles through google related to this error, nothing I've tried works. The third party spam filter's tech support asked me to check my SMTP authentication settings. I'm sure it is a problem on my end but I am at a loss as to what it is.
The server is running OS X 10.4.11 with cyrus 2.2.12. Thanks in advance, I appreciate it.
