Is it really that bad? I ran the benchmark.
Bottomed out at 40FPS topped out at 60, 1080p "high" so it's playable :soda:

question is- does it suck?

It looks pretty fun. There's a lot more zombies. One of them had like an upside down fish with whip things growing out of its head. That was pretty cool.

Graphics looked a little dated. Maybe Gears of War quality. Engine looks similar in execution if not code.

SO:

I have not played RE since like RE:0

Do I still have to collect stupid green herbs?

Is the item system still crapp?

Controls? Good?

How many puzzles and how stupid are they?

Difficulty?

Long?

I was wondering the same thing 100% although the gears of war does not seem dated to me :/

Download the benchmark. It looks cool. These zombies are all ****ed off in Africa, and there's a more ****ed off but more coherent possible non zombie on a platform inciting the zombies to get even ****ed off-er via megaphone.

Then you see some blow up zombies, run, repeat gameplay. They didn't show any green herb or fruity puzzles but that doesn't mean I won't have to collect green balls, calculate pi in my head and figure out an alghorhythm to genetically combine them with a key, 2 green herbs and my handgun, make some kind of glyph, put that in a door, open it, and do the puzzle on the other side.

i would say this game is not worth a purchase, its a cool idea but unless you play online with a partner, the computer controlled partner just gets in your way and makes it impossible to move.

the controls, atleast with a keyboard and mouse are impossible, and yes to having to collect green herbs.

i havent beaten the game, so i cannot tell you the length of the game, but it doesnt seem like a worthwhile purchase

I'm liking it. It has a lot of the old RE drawbacks, but its actually been refined a lot. Wait a fe months for a sale if you want, I can see why mnay don't think its worth $50. As a RE fan, I'm really liking this one. :)

Generally its very enjoyable... just the odd occasion when your partner is trying to shoot a nasty but your head is in the way... doesnt stop her trying tho!! Luckily it doesnt cause damage to you but it does waste ammo...

Do I still have to collect stupid green herbs? - You need health dont you ?

Is the item system still crapp? its pretty good right you, you can buy and sell / collect

Controls? Good? for me the controls are fine, but i have heard some whining around about them, I have no idea why.

How many puzzles and how stupid are they? - there is a fair amount of puzzles, not as much as re4 I dont think, they are pretty easy.

Difficulty? amateur , normal and veteran

Long? fairly, but if you played it fairly intensively you could get through it in two days... of super gaming haha :)

I found the keyboard and mouse much easier then the 360 controller.

For the PC I was sad that there was no split screen co-op or multi-monitor.

I didn't the the controls in 4 and I don't like them in 5. They would have been better off making it first person. I can't tell you how much chris fat head blocks the view at time

Brother and I played through it (ps3) and unlocked all the extras. Definitely worth it in my opinion. Very fun. Don't remember any glaring flaws at all, though I don't like "action button" types of cut scenes. Mercenaries mode is fun as well, though it can get a little tough with a bunch of chainsaw guys chasing you down. :)

After you unlock everything though, it's more of a quarterly play through kind of game, like most.

Yep sure does. Pretty much the only thing I didn't like about the game.

its not sad bad, its in the cinematics, if you have ever played a re game you will be familiar with it, so its not like its new.

I skipped RE4 and it was new to me (in the series anyway), and I've played them since '96.

I have. I hoped Dragons lair ripoffs, green herb, the controls and the item system would fizzle out like a fart.
