Alright so it boils down to either running RAID or an SSD

If its RAID I would be looking at purchasing another Seagate Barracuda 500GB, and a 'GOOD' raid controller (this is where I need help) if its an SSD I have no idea, as all I know about SSD's is what I read....

the budget is 300$ (but I'd like to stay as low as possible, I know 'cheap' and 'good' never mix when dealing with computers.... but I would like to stay as 'cheap' as possible)

If I go the SSD way, it would just be for OS and a few games...

It pretty much boils down to whether you want to pay for the premium that is an SSD.

I'd buy the SSD and use your extra 500GB drive as a second drive for games, storage, other programs, etc..

ocz vertex / maby the agility

Yep SSD OCZ Agility or Vertex. .
the Agility is the sweetheart different nand supplyers for that series and you might get a screamer that beats a normal Vertex in speed :) like CPU's just a roll of the dice to get the golden one...
But either way it go's thay all do as advertised none lower just some higher ;)

But Vertex is still Boss....
