so has there been any news on weither or not there'll be another UT and hopefully better one?

or is cliffy b too ****ed still?

this has happened before (ut2003 any one?) so i could see a better game comming from it if they persue

Epic's mode of attack these days is to just churn out new engines for all the other dev studios to lease from them. So I doubt UT is dead per se, but dont expect really anything fancy for the time being.

Well I told *everyone* UT3 was doomed to failure.

"Let's just screw up everything that made UT2004 one of the best, most well-loved, and best selling shooters of all time."

I had no intention of picking up UT2004... until I played the demo with Onslaught (or gauntlet or whatever it is). I could NOT STOP PLAYING... and that was just the demo! It really got people hooked.

Then they took out onslaught and released, in my opinion (when compared to Bioshock, Crysis, etc) one of the worst demos in the history of first person shooters. They decided to basically make it a scaled-down remake of Gears of War. And then... to begin with... it didn't even work right.

sadly UT3 Black can't even be given away, i've seen sales as low as 7$ and no one buys it >.<

They should really churn out another good game, Unreal 2 was a epic single-player game. Why cant they made a sequel the end was pretty open ended.

+ its graphics back then were ace for that game.

I think UT could come back to life all they needa do is remake UT2k4 identically with better graphics and that would do it for me.

I haven't bought it. And I could've had it for $5!

I went OUT OF MY WAY not to buy UT2003.

It was included in packs with UT2004 and I *still* didn't buy it.

I don't know what the hell is wrong with them anyway.

So you haven't even played it other than the demo? It's a good game, it's just overshadowed by other modern shooters because it's gameplay is so old school. Everyone likes squad based shooters with slower action.

I agree it wasn't a bad game, but I liked UT2k4 the most. It had adrenaline it was fast paced. It was good. UT3 was ok, but not as good at UT2k4 imo.

I love the UT gameplay though, I love fast paced shooters.

I'm so gonna install UT2k4 again when I get home.

i think the best ut game was the goty edition i remember playing the **** out of that game with dialup on my 800mhz celeron :)

unless the cores in the processor in your laptop are fighting one another in a duel.....you need to use dual instead.

i'm sorry it just bugs me, its like one of those craigslist ads that are "Need to Sale" or "this car has a manuel transmission"

Well in UT3's case I bet that Epic couldn't give a damn in light of the success of Gears of War 1 & 2.

Epic is going to have to not only release a great game, but also do some kiss-up work to it's established fanbase after that idiot went around burning bridges. Luckily I've noticed a distinct lack of comments from him, so maybe they took him off PR duty.

Agreed, "CliffyB" is a complete tool for burning the fanbase that got Epic to where it could develop the cash cow that is the Gears of War series. I also dislike how UE3 has become the most popular game engine, it's rubbish.

Epic has shifted their focus to make Unreal Engines and make money through that and perhaps GoW installments because it sells on the console.

They will most likely continue to make UT games but they will be crap just like UT3..they explicitly said they are not focusing on UT anymore and when they do release the next UT it will be just to display the power of their engine(and thus not to release a great game).

I gave up on the UT series..

in other news..IceFrog is leading a team at Valve!!!!!!

They should just do a remake of 2k4 :)

Honestly, I didn't find GoW very fun. It was way to slow paced for me. I haven't played the 2nd release though.

The last unreal I played was UT2k3. I LOVED 2k3 and played it constantly. I think vehicles have no place in UT games, but thats all changed now with the Halo-ification that was 2k4. Bought UT3 for 20 bucks and havent touched it in months, its a pretty mediocre game all around.

halo didnt get games like this started on vehicles, i'd say it was BF1942 or something else of the sort

I am hoping UT3 is kind of like UT2k3 in that it is the mediocre precursor to an awesome game like UT2k4. myabe they can only make every other UT a good UT.

Use to play UT2003/04 (can't remember which) and that was a great game. Fun stuff easy to pick up some instant action. Couldn't complain especially with playing with friends.

Look if some of you guys bought the newer ut and do not like it I can take it off your hands lol. When I get games I always expect them to be different so I am never mad/sad etc when the game is different.

A complete lack of anticheat measures ruins UT3. I once saw one guy firing his sniper rifle backwards and he still insisted he wasn't hacking. :(

Haha, I played a ut version and there was a hacker. After we provided proof to admins he cried via teamspeak and asked to be unbanned.

I personally love UT3. That's probably because I'm old school, so I prefer fast action.

It isn't as good as UT2k4 was, and more people still play 2k4 than they do 3, but I enjoy playing it and I look forward to the next UT release.

Finally, I don't think it should be a surprise that the next installment is years off. That's the way it goes for the majority of the big PC gaming franchises.

TBH, if you think BF2142 or such a game is slower than UT3, you're just not too good at the game. If anything, the BF games often require faster reactions than UT3 does, it's just in UT3 you have no where to hide. ;)
