Ok, twice today when I clicked the reload button on a web page, the browser said unable to connect..so I used the ATT self support tool, and it after going thru the motions they said I need to contact support, and about the time I decided to call, the internet came back....that was the 1st time...next I tried to reload a page here, and the same prob...all connections were checked re-checked and modem reset, and I was using the self support tool again, and about half way thru the process, I get some cryptic msg saying that a download is in progress and I can't use the tool while a D'L is in progress :screwy: So, here I am...waiting for the net to drop again. I know there was a severe storm here and just down the street they have no power, so I guess it could be the telco site having problems, but I would like to know if anybody else has had this prob, and should I plan on getting another modem?
I have AT&T yahoo DSL..el cheapo 128k? anyhow, the modem is a motorola..if you want the part number, I will provide.
So whaddya think?

If it has only been happening for a day, I would give it another day or two, especially since you have had storms in the area. It could be a problem further down the line. If it is still happening in a few days you might want to call your ISP and see if they have had any reports of similar outages.

Its either the modem or the line, likely the line since things are starting to cool down. Call ATT and tell them to fix their crap!

I replaced my Verizon DSL modem last week; was dying a slow death but could still provide between 600-900kbps/550-680kbps. I ended up getting a tech to measure the bit stream off the rj11 cable going into the modem. It had a full 3000/768 at that point, and all other home LAN equipment checked out O.K. With the new modem all is back to normal.
