The instructions may seem but their really not after the reinstall of it 3x I memorized the process.

If your talking about these instructions:

http://www.ocsetiteam.com/Instr1.htm

They are very clear just ask help on what your stuck on.

If you are going to install SETI please go here (http://www.ocsetiteam.com/Instr1.htm) for a good set of instruction to set SETI command line client and join our search for ET.

There you can download all the necessary files to finish the installation procedure.

When you reach this point:

12.) A DOS window (the CLC or command line client) will open entitled "SETI 1 - Transmit"
13.) In the DOS window, enter "1" or "2" (depending on your status)
14.) Enter the email address you registered for SETI with

you need to follow the following instrcutions:

13.1) Type 1 to indicate new user.
13.2) You'll be prompted for a valid e-mail address.
13.3) You'll be prompted for a nickname, You can choose anyone of your liking, as SETI users are identified by e-mail not nickname.

With the above additional instructions, you would have created a SETI account. Remember your e-mail.

If you need more assistance, please post it here, we will try to help you.

This happens on my laptop sometimes with other programs. It seems a certain program has set itself as the default file to run for a given file type. I think this can be taken care of in the File Types box under Folder Options.

What do you do?? Because I deleted the Qimage pro program from my computer and it still wants to run the install for that program..

Are you talking about the screensaver?

If so, you might need to download the program from the berkeley server. As afar as I recall all the files are execuatbles, a scr like program and the sah files to store all the SETI information. IF you have a failed unistalled program you should reinstall the program and try to unistall it again, that usually does the trick.

The clc is more efficient in crunching the data, uses less resources of your system and ocuppies less space in the HD.

It is faster, but you do not have to run it.

I still can't get the Program Seti@Home to install without it thinking it's some kind of other program...When I try to intall it it starts up my Qimage Pro install program by it's self.. I might just give it up and just keep folding instead...

I think you can remove the association in the file types section. You'll have to track down the Qimage thing and remove its associations from the list.

Hmm use the CLC version. How is loading SetiDriver or SetiSpy effecting anything? It is an execuatable that is the extension all programs used.

I'm really stumped...And btw this is not the first time this has happen... I forgot how I got around it the first time...and I never used the Command line version..I really don't feel like useing it..I hate command line stuff..

Well, there's really no command line work to do. SETIDriver runs the command line client and Spy monitors it and tracks your WU log. Nothing to work with on the command line. All I do after setup is copy a shortcut to Spy into the Startup folder and it's ready to roll. I also have to add another file to my Windows directory so that it will shut down properly. I'm unsure if anyone else has to do this.

As far as the Qimage problem goes, I don't know what else to offer. There must be something hiding in the registry trying to fire it up. There's always the manual hunt-and-kill method, but I think most will stay away from that since it can lead to some big headaches.

Direct from SETI@Home:
NOTE: If you execute the SETI@home installer and a non-SETI@home program runs instead, you need to delete the file setup.exe in C:\Windows\Temp directory or in your download directory, and run the SETI@home installer again.

Try it and see if it works...

The only commandish thing in the CLC version is it retrieving and sending work units on the web which it does on your own. Other then that you dont load CLC version alone it's being loaded by an executable - SetiDriver.

Good News!!! I found that stupid setup.exe file that allways started up Qimage Pro..I deleted it. And now Seti works like it should...But still they should really do something about their installer... I would hate to see what a New person thinks when they have the same problem I had..

btw they must of really cut the bandwidth down...takes longer to connect now..

oh and so far I have done 36 WU's I should get more done once I get my Amd 1.2Ghz

I had that problem too. It ran my ATI drivers installer when I fired up Seti Installer.

Anyways, there is another workaround. Since exe files are basically packaged files, you can extract the program with any extraction program (winzip, winrar), and run the setup.exe found in there :D
