Welcome to the first Front page article from the Sound section of OCForums!
It all started off with money.
My first decent job gave me a bit of extra disposable income that was burning a hole in my pocket.
I had already gone done the nice computer route, hence being a member of OCForums, so what to invest in now?

Needs a bit of proofreading and alignment work, imo, but not bad.

maybe im the only one with a problem of plugging a another website in the review. like hifi.org merits more of a signup then OCF... *shrugs*
interesting read though, thanks for the article!

I see what you're getting at Evil but it's simply a matter of going where the most depth and breadth of knowledge is focused. OCF is great with certain members having wider than average experience in better than average audio but it's nothing like a forum dedicated to audio. Just like OCF is much better for overclocking and computer help than an audio forum :)

Thanks for the feedback. A styleguide is in the works - contact Mdcomp if you'd like to help. Until we get wordpress and an established styleguide, we aren't focussing much on alignment and details. Everything's distributed amongst the news team members, so consistency isn't possible without a styleguide.
As for plugging head-fi.org, it's the site to go to for hardcore audio stuff. I think we'd be doing the community a disfavor by not pointing out the best resources.

That was my initial reaction also.
On a random whim I came up with a topic I've been toying with in my mind for quite some time, but finally tonight put it to words.
Once again plugging head-fi simply by link, though more generally about recordings and using headphones, http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f9/recording-practices-difference-speakers-headphones-450891/
I'm not really interested in writing front page material, sometimes I just get the bug to write out some things even if nobody else is interested.
Thanks for all the feedback guys.
I'm sorry that it may of come over like I was "plugging" head-fi, but like madman said, I was just recommending the best place to find out about the topic the article was on.
@Maxvla : Be a good chap and respond to PMs :)

For headphone related things, HeadFi is pretty good, but for speakers, I can recommend nothing but AudioKarma.org. Ive found most of the posts to be much more informative on AK as well.

Yes, jhanby wrote it. Good stuff. :)
Nice article.
It's interesting to see how we somehow get into this, as you put it, 'audiophila slippery slope'.
Like Evilsizer, I initially felt a little weird after I read the last sentence from the article. :-P

I had a few people read your article and they loved it. To the point simple.. very good,
lol It's a very slippery slope. Especially when you factor in that even regular CD has the capabilities of reproducing 14Hz. No I'd bet no one's ear can pick up 14Hz. However with the right equiptment you can feel it. You'll never get that with head phones.

Yeah, perhaps a better title would have been 'Headphones: A Brief Introduction' or something
