I plan on buying a 60mm to 92mm converter for my sk6 because i simply cannot take the noise coming from my 50cfm delta. I am going to get the one http://www.plycon.com/fanadpt.htm . If possible, can somebody recomend a good one from : http://www.plycon.com/fans.htm cause i wanna get all of the stuff from the same site.

I want the fan to be relativly quiet (it can make some noise, but i definetly do NOT want it to sound like a vacuum cleaner, ie my delta) but it NEEDS to be good at cooling. I plan on taking my 1.6ghz xp 1900+ to 1.8ghz + (i am shooting for 11.5x158FSB) so it needs to be good at cooling. Can somebody recommend stuff from plycon?

I gues i could also get the 60 to 80mm adapter but i would assume that 92mm fans make less noise than 80mm ones.

Hi Emericana,
Do you have tried to use the Delta50Cfm @7v? it's a very simple mod and the noise levels are tollerable ;)

Go with the:

Sunon KD1209PTB1-6
$10.99
51 CFM @ 35 dBA
2700 RPM, 4 Pin

Has great air flow and low DBA, compared to ur other.

Try the 7v mod 1st. You might decide you like it that way and it'll save you some $ too.

But for $10.99......

How do i do the 7v mod? what exactly will it do?

To do the 7v mod, use the 12v (yellow) line as your red fan wire, and for ground, use the 5v line on the molex (Red). That gives you 12v-5v=7v.

There has been talk of this being a rather "jury rig" setup though. Mainly, this isn't the normal way of wiring an electical circuit...but it does work.

The reliability I think is what is in question. I've heard it can mess with your psu some, but don't know any specifics. I did the 7v mod on a delta38 at work, and I use that computer to keep an eye on things. I did it to keep quiet and also to experiment how well it'd work.

It pushes considerably less air, and my 92mm job at home seems to circulate much more air through my WBK. A high CFM (50cfm) 92mm fan seems to equal the cooling power of a 38cfm delta...and with alot less noise.

I personally feel the 7v mod is only worth trying for fun. If you are not oc'ing then its a viable option for quietness, but then again you could just buy a new 60mm fan for 5 bucks like the ys tech 26cfm...

I guess my personal opinion would be to use the 92mm fan. The 7v mod has worked for awhile, but I'm still sorta leary about it. And for good cooling, I'd not use it. Remember, if you lower the sound of your delta, you are lowering its cooling abilities....

Just my 2 cents...

Oh btw, yesterday I ordered a CoolerMaster HHC-001...the heatpipe hsf. I just had to try one! I know their fans are about as loud as delta's, so I also picked up a 92mm Thermaltake 52cfrm fan, and I've got about 3 or 4 92mm Sunon's at home. I'm gonna make my own fandapter out of some old case metal, and will see how the 92mm fans perform compared to the stock 60mm...

What do you think about the Panaflo FBA09A12H which runs at 56.8cfm with the same DBA (35) as the sunon? It is a few bucks more expensive, but unless anybody has had any bad experiences with panaflows, i think i am gonna buy it.
